Protein French Toast
I tried this protein packed recipe and loved it. It was really tasty. Having been on a low-carb diet for the past year, the amount of carbs in this scared me, but the simple sugar count is pretty low at just 9.6g with only 4g of added sugar. The majority of the sugar is coming from the white bread. I am going to try it with Carbmaster white bread to see how it tastes. Using that bread will reduce total sugar to 3.6g with 0g added sugar.
Ingredients:
- 85g non-fat sugar-free vanilla yogurt
- 15g Vanilla flavored Whey Protein Powder
- 5g Vanilla Extract
- Cinnamon (to taste – about 1/2tsp)
- 92g Liquid Egg Whites
- 4 slices 60 calorie white bread
- 30ml Sugar-free Syrup
Recipe:
- Add yogurt, protein powder, vanilla extract and cinnamon to a bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Add egg white and mix until well combined
- Coat bread slices in mixture
- Cook slices in non-stick pan (about 3 mins each side) until the egg is cooked and the slices are nice golden brown color.
Plate the French toast and pour on the sugar-free syrup and enjoy. You can actually skip the syrup if you like, the French toast is plenty flavorful and sweet.
