Sour Grape Crack
It is looking like summer is going to be sticking around for a couple more months in most of the U.S., so I figured I would share with y’all a hot weather snack that I stumbled onto. The idea is to mimic (loosely) gummy bears that aren’t little sugar bombs, but also something cold to help cool you off.
Enter the sweet crack that is the Frozen Sour Candied Grape:

Don’t over complicate this. It is very easy. Three ingredients:
- Grapes
- Lime (or Lemon) Juice
- Sugar Free Jello Powder
Personally I get a 2 or 3 lbs bag of grape (depending on which is cheaper per grape). You can use green or red grapes.
Steps:
- Stem and wash grapes
- Put grapes in bowl with lime or lemon juice (don’t fret over amount of juice) to soak for a while (how ever long you can wait). I roll the grapes overs a couple times while soaking.
- Dump grapes in colander to drain and dry a little bit
- Dump grapes in zip lock back
- Dump a packet (or more) of jello powder (you pick flavor)
- Shake
- Toss in freezer for a couple of hours (or minutes if you are itching to try)
Enjoy! Honestly I love these. I love that they don’t completely freeze and are kind of mushy. I love that you can have a handful and not feel guilty.
Macros on this are going to depend on quantity. Weight it out and look up the macros for the grapes and jello powder. Its not a lot and no added sugar. Do note that there is a lot of natural sugar so if you are diabetic, just monitor your glucose.
