Training Update – Aug 30, 2024
Running Workouts
The Aug 28th was on treadmill and was difficult. Treadmill work is getting better, but still don’t feel comfortable on treadmill. I discovered a new negative (or maybe positive depending on your view).. When you get tired outside and start to slow down, you just slow down. On a treadmill, when you get tired, well the damn ‘road’ keeps moving.
The Aug 30 run was OUTSIDE!!!! We had a thick enough marine layer to stave off the sun until well after 10am. I was able to get a really good workout done on good ole mother nature’s skin. I could have pushed a bit harder, but decided to stay at the top end of my workout zone. It was, after all, an endurance run so I needed longevity not speed. You will notice dips in the pace graph, this is walking. Every mile I walked for a bit and slowly ramped back up to my workout pace. The reason for this is simple. Heat. I’ve ended each run in the past 2 months absolutely dripping. This wasn’t typical in the cooler months. Yes I would sweat but not so much that there was a trail of drips as I walked. Really its the humidity along with the warmer temps that does me in.


Strength Workouts
Ughhh… that should say it all.
I do my strength routine at work because it is air conditioned and not 90 degrees like my house (even in the morning when I get home it is 85). Problem is that if I get busy at work, then I don’t have time to fit the session in. That has been the case all this week. I also worked the past 7 days straight and managed to fit in some strength and 3 run days, so I don’t feel too bad about it.
