Half Marathon Box Checked

I finished! And I never have to do that again ?

This was by far the largest race I have been in. So many people. I didn’t even consider that it might take a while to get to the start line and have my race officially start. Turns out, it took 22 minutes from the first runner’s start until I started. In the photo below, you will see a blue banner off in the distance. That is the start line.

The race started off really well. The first mile down, I was like… already? The first 6 miles went smooth and felt good, minus having to stop around mile 3 to tinkle and having to wait. I lost about 3 minutes off the pacers and spent the next 3 miles catching up to them. Mile 7… Houston, we are losing power. Mile 8… I’m so done with this race. I had to bargain with myself and convince myself if I could just get through the next 2 miles to mile 10 then it will only be 3 more miles and that is nothing. Got over the mental hurdle at mile 10, but the legs were offline or something and didn’t get the message. I made it though. I was way behind my goal time, but so what. I still finished! But boy am I paying the price now….

Thank you Rick for meeting me at the finish. I was so happy to see you, even if I didn’t seem like it.

Thanks to those that contributed like my most excellent cuz David for the awesome shoes!

And of course to all who encouraged me along the way!

You won’t have to hear about running from me for a while. I am not planning any summer races. Maybe something in the fall but I will definitely be doing a 5k next December. Maybe I can convince some others to do it with me *wink*

Enjoy the pics and the vid!
