10 days of 5ks
Fundraising for the American Cancer Society
I am participating in a donation drive for the American Cancer Society. The fundraising event is called 10 days of 5ks in June. The name should make it obvious that the goal is to run 50 kilometers (31 miles) in the month of June.
Thank goodness I have this goal because, truth be told, I have given running a backseat lately to other endeavors. I suppose a flaw of mine is that I struggle to juggle multiple things. I get focused on a certain task and that is pretty much where all my efforts go. Over the past month and a half, I have spent all my waking hours working on a project. The short of it is most of my ‘free’ time and even some of my not so free time, has been spent on developing websites. No, not as a side occupation. That would be too sensical. This project has been about my own websites. See the family tree representation of the websites below. There is still plenty of work to do on each and it will be an ongoing effort for months to come. However, I have been having a fantastic time working on the creative writing website (Scriblet’s Hollow). It is an immersive fantasy-filled blog site that showcases my writing.
[ays_chart id=’3′]As for running… well today I went for my first run in weeks. I didn’t really have a plan, just get out and run. I quickly realized I have lost a lot of endurance and I didn’t think I would last for a 3 mile session. I ended up going 6.3 miles. My legs were definitely toast, but it was a good run. It is overcast and misty so it was cool and the wetness (not overwhelming) was a welcome relief. Of course it was a very slow run, clocking an average pace of 14:09 and barely topping out at 11:45 for a short period. Well behind my PR, but not unexpected. I will keep the blog updated with news about my progress toward the 10 days of 5ks in June goal. I don’t have a race goal to keep commenting on yet, so it is good that I have this fundraiser for now.

Coming Soon…
I am working on an idea for the future of Flab To Fab that I will be talking more about in an upcoming blog post. I don’t know when I will publish that post (could be today or a month from now) nor how in-depth that post will be, but I have some lofty ideas for this platform. Stay tuned.
Also, this site will integrate with the Thoughtropolis discussion forum (moving away from comments beneath posts) and somewhere in the near future a hand built follower update/newsletter email subscription and delivery mechanism across all of the Thoughtropolis family sites. This will allow visitors to this site exposure to, and updates about, the other sites.
There will likely be another round of design updates as I have learned A LOT from the time spent working on Scriblet’s Hollow. This site won’t have many of the intricacies that the Hollow has, but there are things I can clean up on the back-end and perhaps even front-end that will set things up for a smoother transition, regardless of what ideas I end up implementing with this site.
